How to Stay Mindfully Aware during Hard Times

Many times we allow the world around us to influence and change how we feel in the present moment. A life experience can change how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us within minutes. When outside events wear you down, and you find yourself losing interest in trying to be positive, recognize that at that moment, you are one with what you don’t want.

You can maintain a positive mindset amidst chaos, by practicing the art of detachment. During stressful life situations, practicing mindfulness, detaching yourself from the situation, not reacting ask yourself these questions:

  • What do I want to happen?
  • How do I genuinely want to feel?
  • Can I imagine a win-win for all?
  • Can I now choose to feel at peace with my here and now maintaining a positive intention for myself and all?

When you find yourself drifting into that up-close and personal space with external forces that are not what you want to experience or feel, choose to recognize what is occurring, stop and take a detached stance and choose that which you want to think, feel, and experience. Take back your inner power!
